Technology Specialist

Summary:

Provides advanced in-house technical support for systems, networks, and core infrastructure. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of personal computer hardware/software, servers, and network components. Supports the Windows, VM, and AIX server environments, including performance monitoring, patch management, and vulnerability remediation. Assists in maintaining the integrity and security of the core data processing system and participates in business continuity and disaster recovery efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced-level help desk and infrastructure support, including installation and troubleshooting of servers, switches, firewalls, and other corporate technology.
  • Support the Core Data Processing system and ensure its operational integrity.
  • Assist with the analysis, acquisition, installation, and maintenance of data communications, hardware, and software.
  • Maintain and support internal network infrastructure and ensure systems are secure and up to date.
  • Participate in the onboarding and technical orientation of new staff.
  • Collaborate with departments to support technology needs and ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for system support and maintenance.
  • Implement and support vulnerability management processes including patching, virus protection, and remediation.
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity operations, including testing and documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain clear, detailed technical documentation.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for Saturday branch and back-office support.
  • Support daily, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processing tasks.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in coursework, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in network and computer systems support; financial services experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, Core Operating Systems administration, MS Office, and network infrastructure.
  • Experience with Crystal Reports, web editing tools, and phone system management is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Language Ability:

The position requires the ability to read and interpret documents, along with the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The incumbent must possess the ability to speak effectively in one-on-one groups or large groups and the ability to respond to inquiries or complaints in a professional manner.

Math Ability:

The incumbent should possess the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. He/she should also be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to credit union situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of complex instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

The position requires strong experience with Microsoft Operating Systems, Credit Union Core Operating systems administration, MS Office, Crystal Reports/Report Writer software, Web-page creation and editing, Phone system management.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in coursework, training, and experience.
  • Microsoft certification or CompTIA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of network and computer systems management, financial services experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Must be capable of effective oral communication via writing, telephone, fax, or face to face.
  • Travel between locations and attend meetings.

Mental and Visual Demands:

Mental concentration is required to work with numbers and spreadsheets.
